Technical Information (Text, scores and graphics)

This site uses two main formats for its pages: html, which is the standard internet text language, and pdf., which is the standard format of online manuals. To decide which is the best format for your needs read these brief summaries.

Html-pages

Html pages can be easily downloaded by dragging the page or the blue link text onto your desktop. A file-icon will instantly appear on the desktop. When you (later) want to work offline, disconnect from the internet, but keep your browser (Navigator or Explorer) running. From the browser's file menu you can simply open this page in the browser. From this point it is entirely editable and the version you have tailored for your students can be subsequently saved and printed.

In html graphics (which include all musical scores presented on these pages) have to be downloaded separately. You can reintegrate them into the page at the appropriate point when you do your editing. But it can get a little messy, particularly if an Amphion-page has many short graphics inserts. This is where pdf. is advantageous. Be aware too that music-score graphics can not generally be edited. To do this you must use a MIDI-file (see Technical Information - Music).

Pdf-formated pages

To read a pdf. page at all you must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. It is free and involves little more than clicking on download on the Adobe site. Click for: Adobe Acrobat Reader webpage.

When you click now on pdf.-link you will be able to read a page where text and graphics are totally integrated. You can resize the pages, but you cannot edit them. And, course they can easily be printed too.
