Amphion is managed by John Mason. John has had 20 years experience teaching music at many different levels. Mainly involved with teaching in secondary schools he has held positions in the UK (Downham Market*, Bury St. Edmund's, Marlow*), Austria (Vienna International School*) and in Munich (European School*). In many of these post he has been responsible for running large music departments (marked *) and has also taught in primary departments within three of these schools. He has also been a Lecturer in Music Education at the University of Reading (UK) and a school-based initial-training tutor for the University. Since September 2001 he has been freelancing as an educational consultant and has recently given lectures to the MA-Music Education course at Reading and has presented papers at conferences of the European Association for School-Music (EAS).
In real life he is an enthusiastic bassoonist (being a former member of the British Youth Wind Orchestra) and increasingly enjoys conducting. He has composed many pieces for young performers (including two musicals to texts from Caroline Ellwood) and in recent years has made several arrangements for choir and brass (Blechschaden - Munich Philharmonic Brass).
